Tanzanian Qari Wins Sharjah University Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Qari from Tanzania was announced the top winner of an online Quran recitation competition organized by Al Qasimia University in Sharjah, the UAE.

 

One hundred students from different faculties of the university took part in the competition, named Murtal Al Qasimia, sharjah24.ae website reported.

Hamza Abubakr Salih from Tanzania, who studies at the university’s Faculty of Quran, came first.

The second and third ranks went to Abdullah Bassam Ijaj from Lebanon and Watun Buniako from Kosovo. They both study at the Quran Faculty as well.

The contest was organized by the Faculty of Quran in cooperation with the public relations office of the university.

It was aimed at identifying Quranic talents among the students and encouraging students to memorize and recite the Quran.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of the disease, many Quranic programs in different countries have gone online.
