1,700 Sign Up for Nat’l Quran Contest in Oman

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some 1,700 individuals have signed up for the 30th national Quran competition of Oman, an official said.

 

Ali bin Abdullah al-Saqari said registration for the competition, named after the country’s former ruler, Sultan Qaboos Qaboos bin Said Al Said, ended on Wednesday, al-Shabibeh website reported.

He added that the 1,700 contenders will compete in two sections for men and women.

There are 7 categories of memorization and Tarteel recitation of the Quran in the contest, the official stated.

He also noted that the dates and locations of the competition in different cities and provinces will be announced soon.

The Sultanate of Oman is an Arab country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Virtually all Omanis are Muslims.
