TEHRAN (IQNA) – Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement said it aimed a number of drones at Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport early on Tuesday and put it out of action for several hours.

There was no immediate confirmation of the incident from Saudi authorities.

Abha airport, near Saudi Arabia’s south-west border with Yemen, has been a regular target for Yemeni drones and missiles over the past two years.

The kingdom has claimed to have intercepted many of them.

Yemeni Army spokesman Yahya Saree said on Twitter the attack with Samad 3 drones took place at dawn, Reuters reported.

He added that the airstrikes come within Yemen’s legitimate right to respond to the Saudi-led coalition’s devastating military campaign and all-out blockade.

Saree reiterated that Yemeni soldiers and allied popular fighters will continue to carry out such strikes deep inside Saudi Arabia as long as the Riyadh regime presses ahead with its deadly aggression and siege.

The development took place only two days after Yemeni army forces and their allied fighters struck the same Saudi airport.
