TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council called on the United Nations to change its approach to the Yemeni crisis and adopt impartiality.

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi regretted that the world body accepts whatever reports or suggestions it receives from the Saudi-led coalition but rejects any suggestions from Yemen’s National Salvation Government.

“We have given the UN the comprehensive solution document which offers a just path for all Yemeni people,” he said.

Al-Houthi hoped that the UN will take the right path and stop its one-sided approach, al-Maseerah TV reported.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he rejected reports that the Houthi Ansarullah movement targets civilians, calling once again for the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate crimes committed against civilians in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and eliminating the Yemeni Houthi Ansarullah movement, whose fighters have been helping the Yemeni army significantly in defending the country against invaders since the onset of war.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has so far claimed more than 100,000 lives.
