TEHRAM (IQNA) – An Iraqi political analyst condemned the recent assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and said the Islamic Republic’s response to the act of terror will be certain and decisive.

As an Islamic country and a member of the axis of resistance, Iran will not step back from defending its rights and has no hesitation when it comes to retaliation for the blood of its martyrs, Juma al-Utwani told IQNA in an interview.

He referred to Iran’s missile strike targeting Ain al-Assad Base in Iraq that is home to US forces after the US assassinated top IRGC Quds Force commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in early January, saying it demonstrated the Iranian resolve to respond to such moves.

Iran’s response to assassination of Fakhrizadeh will also be certain and decisive, he added.

Al-Utwani also said the assassination was a sign that Israel and the US cannot confront Iran military and that is why they resort to terrorism.

He further slammed the muted response of international bodies like the United Nations to this act of terrorism and said the US has turned these organizations into lackeys.

Fakhrizadeh, who headed the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), was targeted on November 27 in a multi-pronged attack involving at least one explosion and small fire by a number of assailants in Absard city of Damavand County, Tehran Province.

Iranian government officials and military commanders have hinted that the Israeli regime could have been behind the terror attack, vowing harsh revenge against all the criminals involved.
