TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first Quranic program of the Islamic Revolution Quranic convoy was held Thursday in Tehran.

Like the previous two years, a convoy of Iranian Quranic figures and activists travel to different cities of the country to hold programs on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

The convoy includes Quran reciters, memorizers and Tawasheeh groups.

Its first program was held at Amir Al-Mouminin Mosque in northeast Tehran with the participation of families of martyrs and commanders and personnel of the Army and Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

A number of top Qaris of the country, as well as Quran reciters from the armed forces, recited verses from the Holy Book at the program, which was broadcast live on the Quran TV and Quran Radio.

Also, a number of the families of martyrs were honored at the event.

Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran marks the beginning of the Ten Days of Dawn, which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 42 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
