Islamophobia Turning into a Black Hole in European Values: Erdogan
Speaking in a meeting of ambassadors of the EU states to Turkey on Tuesday, he added that the growing anti-Islam acts threatens the lives of Muslims, including 6 million Turkish nationals living in Europe, Anadolu Agency reported.
Erdogan reiterated the need for the EU to tackle the menace of anti-Muslim prejudice in their countries in order to improve relations.
Back in October, Erdogan criticized rising Islamophobia in France. “What is the problem of this person called Macron with Muslims and Islam? Macron needs treatment on a mental level,” he said.
The remarks came following French President Emmanuel Macron’s Islamophobic attitude toward millions of Muslims living in France.
“What else can be said to a head of state who does not understand freedom of belief and who behaves in this way to millions of people living in his country who are members of a different faith?” Erdogan added,
Macron said earlier in October he would fight “Islamist separatism,” which according to him threatens to take control in some Muslim communities around France.
