TEHRAN (IQNA) – The deadline for registration for the 19th edition of the national Quran and Etrat Examination in Iran was extended to February 8.

Abdol Hadi Feqhizadeh, Quran and Etrat deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, said the period was extended for the third time due to the large number of applicants and the many requests received from Quran activists.

He said more than 111,000 have registered to take the examination by February 5 which was the deadline previously announced for the registration.

The number is larger than expected and it will exceed by the end of the registration, he added.

The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance organizes the exams annually.

This year, due to the coronavirus restrictions, they will be held virtually.

There will be 14 categories, including 9 in the Quran memorization section, 3 in the field of the teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) and 2 in the field of Quranic concepts and Quran translation.
