TEHRAN (IQNA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement expressed condolences over the demise of resistance activist Anis al-Naqqash.

In a statement on Monday, Hezbollah described Naqqash as an outstanding Lebanese combatant and thinker who conducted strategic research on countering the Zionist regime, al-Ahed News reported.

It added that he spent many years of his life on the path of defending the cause of Palestine.

Hezbollah condoled the Lebanese nation on the demise of the prominent figure.

Vice President of the Islamic Supreme Shia Council of Lebanon Shiekh Ali Al Khatib also issued a message, saying the realm of the truth has lost a prominent resistance fighter.

Naqqash died on Monday after contracting the coronavirus, el-Nashra website reported.

He was a veteran activist in the Islamic resistance front.

Naqqash was also a comrade of Imad Mughniyeh, a senior Hezbollah member who was assassinated in Syria in 2008, and the CIA claimed credit for his unlawful murder.
