Prominent Syrian Scholar Laid to Rest
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A funeral was held for Syrian Muslim scholar and preacher Allamah Sayyed Hussein Ali al-Raja on Sunday.
The funeral began at his home in Damascus and he was laid to rest at the holy mausoleum of Hazrat Zeiynab (SA) south of the Syrian capital.
He had died of the coronavirus disease a day earlier.
Al-Raja converted to Shia Islam in the early 1980s and established the Al-Murtadha Movement.
He also headed Syria’s Imam Murtadha Society and founded the first Husseiniya (Shia religious center) in the Arab country.
