TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mahmoud al-Sheikhi is the youngest Quran reciter in Egypt’s Qena Governorate.

He started learning the Quran by heart and managed to memorize the entire Quran at the age of 12.

He then learned Quran recitation and is now a known Qari in the governorate.

Born into a Quranic family, Mahmoud has also learned some Quranic sciences.

His father, who is also a memorizer of the entire Quran, was his first teacher in memorization.

Mahmoud has a beautiful voice and his Quran recitations have been likened to those of late Egyptian master Sheikh Muhammad Sidiq Minshawi.

The young Qari wishes to become a Qari of Egypt’s Quran Radio one day.

Qena is one of the governorates of Egypt located in the southern part of the country and covering a stretch of the Nile valley.

Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.

Quranic activities are very common in the Muslim-majority Arab country and many of the Muslim world’s top Qaris in the past and present have been Egyptian.
