TEHRAN (IQNA) – A student at Egypt’s Zagazig University recently defended his PhD thesis on the inaccuracies in a Chinese translation of the Quran.

Egyptian Student’s PhD Thesis Discusses Errors in Lin Song’s Quran Translation

Abdul Azim Zakarya Sabri’s thesis investigates the errors in the Chinese translation of the story of Prophet Moses (AS) in the Quran, El-Balad News reported.

The translation he discusses in his research has been rendered by Yahya Lin Song and Mohamed Makin.

Sabri defended it at the Chinese language department of the university’s Asian Studies Faculty.

He said it is difficult for non-Arabs to understand the Quran and its message in the Arabic language.

As Islam’s message is universal and all Muslims need to understand the teachings of the Quran, efforts have been made to translate the Holy Book into different languages, he added.

The PhD student noted that he chose the subject as his thesis because no one else had previously paid attention to some inaccuracies that are there in this Chinese translation of the Quran.

He said by correcting these imprecisions in the translation, the Chinese reader could better understanding the meaning of the Quran’s verses.
