Egyptian Qari Who Refused to Stop Reciting Quran despite Illness
He was one of the most renowned Quran reciters in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate and was known as Egypt’s best Quran ambassador.
Born in 1947 in the city of Bila in Kafr el-Sheikh, Fasada became a memorizer of the entire Quran at the age of 10.
He also learned recitation of the Quran and soon became a prominent qari.
Fasada also taught the Quran and Quranic sciences at Al-Azhar Islamic University for years.
He was sent by Egypt’s Awqaf ministry to various Arab and Muslim countries for recitation of the Quran, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Abdul Salam al-Hiwari, a preacher and one of Fasada’s relatives, says he was a very pious and modest person.
He said Fasada was also a skillful memorizer of the Quran and once recited a full Juz (one-thirtieth) of the Quran from memory.
In the last years of his life, Fasada was advised by his doctor not to recite the Quran, al-Hiwari noted, adding that the qari refused to do so, stressing that he would die without reciting the Quran.
He wished to die while reciting the Holy Book, al-Haiwari went on to say.
Fasada died on January 14, 2021, at the age of 73.
