Al-Azhar Urged to Publish Easy-to-Read Interpretation of Quran
Yusuf Amer wrote in an article that such an interpretation should showcase the Islamic moderation.
Correct understanding of the Holy Quran and Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is necessary for the good of the Muslim Ummah, he said.
Amer added that presenting such an interpretation would help promote security and religion in Egypt.
He said the Holy Quran, which is the basis for Islamic Sharia is being taught at Al-Azhar in the best way, but in order for ordinary people to better understand the teachings and concepts of the Quran’s verses, it is advisable that the center publish an easy-to-understand Quran interpretation.
Such a work should provide simple answers to everyday issues in society such as family, morality, etc, he went on to say.
A few months ago, Amer had also called for a new interpretation that highlights Islam’s moderation and counters extremism.
It would provide an answer to certain Hadiths that extremist groups refer to in order to justify their ideologies, Amer said late last year.
