Quran Competition for Iranian Armed Forces Slated for Next Week

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of the 33rd edition of the Quran competition for Iranian Armed Forces will be held next week.

It will be organized on the occasion of the Ten-Day Fajr (dawn) celebrations, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution’s victory.

A total of 240 members of the Armed Forces who performed the best in the preliminary rounds have made it to the finals.

They are from the Army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Police, and the Defense Ministry.

This year’s competition is held in several categories, including memorization and recitation of the Quran, Quranic concepts and Adhan (call to prayer).

There will be six teams of arbiters consisting of a total of 30 Quran experts judging the performances in the final round, according to Hassan Farahani, director of the Defense Ministry’s Dar-ol-Quran Center, which will host the contest.

They will include Amir Aqaei, Mohammad Reza Pourzargari, Mohammad Abbasi, Abbas Emamjome, Mohammad Hossein Saeedian and Ali Akbar Hanifi, he told IQNA.

Farahani added that the top winners in the recitation and memorization categories will make it to Iran’s national Quran competition.
