TEHRAN (IQNA) – A trial edition of the Holy Quran in Braille developed by Al-Azhar Islamic Center has been put on display at center's pavilion in the Cairo International Book Fair.

The copy has been developed at Al-Azhar's printing center, using modern printing systems, according to Elbalad.news.

The Quranic verses are written both in Arabic script and in Braille so as to create a sense of social cooperation between the visually impaired and the rest of society.

One of the features of Qurans that are printed in Braille is that they need a larger and thicker paper so that the dots can be prominent enough to be read easily.

The 53rd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair was inaugurated on Wednesday. The exhibition started receiving the public daily from Thursday and continues until February 7.

This is the sixth edition in a row that Al-Azhar Islamic Center launches a special pavilion in the event.

The Book Fair is held under the theme “Egypt’s identity, culture and the question of future.”

Greece will be the guest of honor, and the writer Yahya Haqqi is a feature of the fair, and the writer Abdel-Tawab Youssef is the character of the children’s book fair.

The 53rd session returns with Cairo International Book Fair to its original date at the end of January of each year, after the last edition of the fair was held exceptionally during the month of June 2021 due to the global pandemic.
