ASEAN Envoys Visit Al-Mustafa Int’l University, Discuss Coop.

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A group of envoys from the ASEAN visited the headquarters of Al-Mustafa International University in Qom, discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

 

Envoys from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and the Philippines made the visit on Thursday, meeting with Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Abbasi, president of Al-Mustafa International University.

Abbasi said in the meeting that 95% of students in the academic center are non-Iranian. Students from 130 countries are now studying in different branches of the university, he added.

Thai Ambassador to Tehran Worawoot Pongprapapant called for studying the existing capacities for boosting academic cooperation between Al-Mustafa and universities in ASEAN region.

Such meetings can pave the ground for “major changes” in the field of scientific ties, he said, noting that the envoys in this meeting are committed to expanding relations and friendship between ASEAN states and Iran.

The ambassadors also offered a collection of books about the ASEAN states to the Iranian university.

Indonesian Ambassador to Iran Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro was the next speaker who noted that some 200 Indonesian students are now studying at Al-Mustafa University. He hoped for increased cooperation between the Iranian university and Indonesian academic centers.

Al-Mustafa International University is a religious and Islamic university established to expand and introduce Islamic and religious teachings to the world through modern facilities and technologies.

It is a scholarly and educational institution that like other such institutions strives to develop thought and help society and humanity.

It is known internationally and has trained many prominent scholars and researchers.
