TEHRAN (IQNA) – Artistic introduction of prominent historic works of Iran and Islam to the public, particularly the youth, in attractive, creative and updated methods, is among the major missions of the museum of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad, an official said.

“To implement this, we demand innovative hardware and software approaches, which will be put into effect by the time the museum project is finalized”, said Malek Rahmati, deputy custodian of the holy shrine.

Speaking in a ceremony to cherish donors and veterans of the holy shrine museum, Rahmati congratulated Museum and Cultural Heritage Day and noted: “Being aware of historical incidents and cultural and artistic heritage is of utmost importance in religious discourse and Islamic civilization”.

Invoking Imam Ali’s advice to his son as a message to the entire humankind, the official said: “To have prosperity and make wise decisions, one needs to be aware of and learn from thoughts, wisdom, and life of the ancestors. This will bring about insight and sagacity that can pave human’s way in today’s world”.

The deputy custodian continued: “In the first step, therefore, different dimensions of this precious legacy need to be recognized and conveyed to the world to accelerate the pursuit of creating a new Iranian-Islamic civilization”.

Expanding on the fundamental duty of the holy shrine museum in displaying outstanding cultural-historical legacy, Rahmati added: “Pilgrims will be invariably impressed by the priceless works on display in the museum; however, they need to gain an insight into the country’s history, cultural and artistic heritage, and their national identity, all of which are possible through new smart tools”.

Further in his remarks, the official said that the artifacts in the holy shrine museum – abound with religious and cultural concepts – were not only meant for domestic use, rather measures needed to be taken to establish mutual cooperation with museums across the globe so that the matchless legacy in Iran could be introduced to at least 30 million pilgrims via latest knowledge, technology, and innovative programs.

Rahmati concluded by calling on those in charge of the holy shrine museum to adopt innovative approaches and employ all capacities to launch a holy attempt in introducing valuable cultural, historic, and artistic works and manuscripts on national and international scales.
