TEHRAN (IQNA) – The organizing committee of the 21st edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Quran Award in the United Arab Emirates held a meeting to discuss preparation for the contest.

The Ras Al Khaimah Foundation for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences organizes the competition annually, according to wam.ae website.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, head of the Ras Al Khaimah Foundation for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences, and a number of other officials and representatives of sponsors of the contest.

Ahmed Ibrahim Sabaian, secretary general of the award, said at the meeting that the competition is held for different groups of contenders, including boys, girls, women, imams of mosques, muezzins, inmates and new Muslims living in the UAE.

He added that a new section has been added to this year’s edition, which will be held online and via social media.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes totaling more than 575,000 UAE dirhams, he went on to say.

He also noted that the contestants in the previous edition were from 59 nationalities living the Arab country.
