Quran Interpretation in Hausa Published in Egypt
Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa said the Quran interpretation, titled Al-Muntakab fir Tafseer al-Quran (selected topics in Quran interpretation) has been published in line with the ministry’s efforts to promote moderate ideology and thought in different languages.
He said Salih Abu Bakr Gura, a teacher of Hausa at Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Languages and Translation, is the author of the work.
Gomaa said he is happy to present the Quran exegesis to those speaking Hausa, Shorouk News reported
The book helps those reading it to better comprehend the concepts of the Holy Book, he added.
Hausa is a language spoken by the Hausa people in Chad, and mainly within the northern half of Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Benin and the southern half of Niger, with significant minorities in Sudan and Ivory Coast.
It has around 60 million speakers, spoken as a first language by some 40 million people, and as a second language by another 20 million.
Hausa is a member of the Afroasiatic language family and is the most widely spoken language within the Chadic branch of that family.
