TEHRAN (IQNA) – True and special servants of Allah have been named as “servants of the Beneficent God” in the Holy Quran. These are people who strive for strengthening divine features in themselves and treat others with kindness.

Parts of Surah Al-Furqan refer to the special attributes of the servants of God and introduce the criterion of servitude in this way. These servants have been introduced as “servants of the Beneficent God”. “(Among) the servants of the Beneficent God are those who walk gently on the earth and when addressed by the ignorant ones, their only response is, ‘Peace be with you’.” (Surah Al-Furqan, verse 63) Elsewhere in the surah, a number of other features are also listed.

The first characteristic is that God's special servants are not arrogant and selfish, and this is reflected in their actions and behavior. Their second characteristic is that they are patient and treat others with tolerance.

Another feature of them is that they perform sincere worship for Allah. They worship God during the night; when others are sleeping, they stay awake and pray. The fourth characteristic of this group is that they ask God to keep them away from Hell.

The sixth feature of these people is that they avoid extremes, especially on the issue of almsgiving. Some people donate their properties in a manner that they may end up in poverty while some others offer no donations out of the fear of poverty. Servants of the Beneficent God are not categorized in these two groups and adopt a moderate approach.

The next three features of this group are: they do not associate partners with God, their hands are not stained with the blood of the innocent, and they do not commit sins.
