Winners of Nat’l Quran Contest Awarded

The awarding ceremony of the 36th national Quran competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held on Tuesday in the southern city of Shiraz, Fars province.

The function began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Seyyed Javad Hosseini, winner of the first title in an international Quran recitation competition in 2009.
Next, Iran’s national anthem was played and then a message by Seyyed Mohammad Ahmadi, governor general of Fars province, was read out.
In his message, Ahmadi described it as an honor for the province to host the national Quranic contest.
He thanked all of those who contributed to the successful organization of the Quranic, cultural and spiritual event.
After speeches by a number of religious and political figures, Mytham Tammar from Iraq performed Ibtihal (a kind of religious singing) in praise of the Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
Elsewhere in the ceremony, a statement by the jury panel of the competition was read in which they highlighted the significant Quranic progress in the country.
The 36th national Quran competition of Iran that had started in Shiraz on February 21, concluded on Monday, February 24. The contest is annually organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
In this edition of the Quranic event, Jafar Fardi from Tehran, Hamed Valizadeh from West Azarbaijan and Hamid Reza Abbasi from Razavi Khorasan province came first to third in the Tahqiq recitation category.
In Tarteel recitation, winners of the three top titles were Javad Soleymani from Razavi Khorasan, Mahdi Forqi from Qom and Mohammad Javad Javari from Tehran, respectively.
In the category of Quranic concepts, Masoud Qaffari-Fini from Isfahan bagged the top prize. He was followed by Hossein Mahmoudi from Isfahan and Hossein Soleymani from Qom.
In memorization of the entire Quran, it was Behzad Hozhabri from Ardebil who won the first title. Mousa Motamedi from Isfahan and Mahmoud Noruzi from Tehran came second and third.
And finally, the three top winners in memorization of 20 Juzes (sections) of the Quran were Mojtaba Fard-Fani from Razavi Khorasan, Seyyed Hamed Mahdizadeh from Qom and Mohammad Ali Shariati from Isfahan.
