Motaharriyan, head of Yazd Province’s Mahd-e-Quran (Quran Cradle) said in an interview with IQNA that if such a ministry is formed, it should not be solely run by the government since it runs counter to the principles of privatization and the government’s long term plans.
“The Quran ministry should be supportive of non-governmental Quranic centers and prioritize promoting their activities” he said.
“There are many governmental organizations right now that receive funds for Quranic activities but spend these funds elsewhere. If the Quran ministry is to do the same there is no point in trying to form this ministry” added Mr. Motaharriyan.
Nevertheless, he underlined the need for creation of an institution to integrate Quranic activities in the country and invest in promoting Quranic culture.
