"The wars the holy Prophet fought were not for mass murder and bloodshed but for eliminating obstacles in the way of Islamic propagation," said a noted Islamic scholar.
Referring to the presence of Imam Ali an almost all the wars, Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani said: "no one has fought as many wars as Ali did along with the Prophet (PBUH)."

"The only war he didn't participate was Tabook, and the reason was that the Prophet asked Ali to remain in the city to foil hypocrites' conspiracy to mount a coup," he added.

"After the prophet's demise, those who couldn't stand imam Ali's superiority, got hadith counterfeiters to downplay Ali's sacrifices and services," he added.
