The seminar, which is organized by the Women Association of History Researchers, aims to shed light on the status of women in the early years of Islam’s history.
‘Women and Muslim thinkers’, ‘women and Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) tradition’, ‘women and Islamic law (Fiqh and Sharia)’, ‘women and economy’, ‘women and literature’, ‘women and Gnosticism’, ‘women and education’, ‘women, politics and power’, ‘women and art’, and ‘women in society’ are the categories of the seminar.
The International Institute for Dialogue among Civilizations, the Center for Religions Studies (affiliated with Qom’s Islamic Seminary), the Great Islamic Encyclopedia Center and the Cultural Heritage Research Center have pledged cooperation in holding the event.
Interested researchers and scholars are invited to submit their articles to the secretariat of the seminar by August 16. The website of the Women Association of History Researchers at www.wahr.ir contains more information on the event.
The previous two seminars on women in history were held in Shiraz in 1381 (2002) and Zanjan in 1383 (2004). The first was titled “Women in Various Eras of Iran’s History” and the second “Women in Iran’s Contemporary History”.
