Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar Warns against Spread of Bahai Sect

Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar prestigious university said that the Bahai faith shouldn’t be recognized as a formal religion when issuing identification cards.
Mohammad Seyyed Tantavi, Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar University in Egypt warning against the spread of the Bahai religious sect in Egypt said, "The Baha'i sect is an illegitimate sect which is totally against the teachings of the noble religion of Islam and accepting it will be tantamount to disbelief in God and Islam."

Referring to the decree of the Egyptian Interior Ministry on the illegality of filling Baha'i sect as the religion of individuals in identification cards, Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar said that based on the decree, Baha'is should leave it blank when it comes to the religion in filling personal information.

In 1986, the then grand Mufti of Al-Azhar issued a Fatwa (religious edict) announcing that the Baha'i faith was an invention of the British colonizers in the 19th century and that it is totally against the principles of the noble religion of Islam.

The Baha'is observe the city of Akka in occupied Palestinian territories as their holy city. They don’t have faith in Resurrection and the holy prophet.
