-- In a meeting of representatives of Islamic movements in Tripoli, Lebanon, on February 22, Malik Sho’ar, Lebanese mufti, called for strengthening unity among Shia and Sunni Muslims according to the Quran and Sunnah (holy Prophet’s (PBUH) tradition).
According to IQNA’s branch in Lebanon, the meeting was held with the presence of representatives of 40 Islamic movements.
Sho’ar referred to Zionism as the common enemy of both Shia and Sunni Muslims, and emphasized maintaining Islamic unity to counter the Zionist regime.
“There are far more commonalities than differences among Muslims of different sects and this should be used to strengthen unity based on Islamic values,” he added.
“Islamic fraternity and unity are of great importance to both Shia and Sunni Muslims in Lebanon,” he stressed.
