Quran Competitions Should Help Promote Islamic Unity

-- Quran competitions should help promote unity and fraternity among Muslims, Malaysian King Mizan Zainal Abidin said.
According to IQNA’s correspondent, the king was addressing the opening ceremony of Malaysia’s 52nd International Quran Recitation Competition Tuesday, July 27. It is underway in Kuala Lumpur’s Putra World Trade Center.
The king added that the competition is held with the aim of promoting Islamic fraternity and reviving the Sunnah of the holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
He said the Noble Quran is the everlasting miracle of the holy Prophet (PBUH) and “we must strive to learn and appreciate the beauty and meaning of the Book of God.
In today’s world, unfortunately, there are negative perceptions about Islam. It is upon Islamic countries to get united and strive to revive the true spirit of Islam and present the true image of the religion to the world, the king stated.
He went on to say that through following the teachings of the Quran, Muslims need to combat poverty and advance science and knowledge in order for getting independent from other countries.
King Mizan Zainal Abidin concluded by stressing the need for strengthening of Islamic unity and fraternity.
