Int’l Quran Contest for Women Kicks Off in Jordan

-- The sixth edition of “Al-Hashemi” international competitions of women on memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Quran began from yesterday, June 12 in Jordan.
According to Al-Dastoor newspaper, the contest has been organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Jordan under the patronage of Queen Rania Abdullah, king's wife of Jordan.
The Cultural-Islamic Center affiliated to Abdullah bin Al-Hussein Mosque in Amman, hosts the competitions.
30 participants from 27 Islamic and Arab countries and some Jordanian participants compete in memorization of the entire Quran, 20 and 10 parts of the Quran, recitation and interpretation categories.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, E’tedal Al-Ebadi, director of women affairs section of the ministry, stressed the importance of memorization, recitation and interpretation of the holy Quran.
He said that those who read and memorize the Quran will be blessed by God both in the world and the Hereafter enjoying the highest status in the Day of Resurrection.
