Quran Recitation Sessions in Iraq Cities

As part of the “Najaf, Cultural Capital of the Islamic World in 2011” plan, Quran recitation sessions are held in Iraq’s holy cities, Noon website reported.
Ali Mirza, head of the committee for implementing the “Najaf, the 2011 Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” plan, said the committee organizes the sessions in the holy cities of Najaf, Karbala, Kufa and Kadhimayn.
He said the session are aimed at promoting the Quranic atmosphere in the cities and enhancing the Quranic culture among teenagers and youths.
“Iraqi reciters who have won titles at international Quran competitions as well as 22 Quran reciters, memorizers and Quran competition judges from other countries attend the sessions,” Mr. Ali Mirza remarked, adding that the first two sessions were held in Al-Mujtaba Hussainiya (religious center) in Najaf, and the Kufa Mosque in the city of Kufa.
A Quranic delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran is also in Iraq attending the Quranic sessions.
