Quran Contest Should Influence Society’s Public Culture

The Quranic activities and contests held in the country should ultimately aims at promoting the public culture in society, managing director of public relations and international affairs in Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization told IQNA.
Referring to the 29th edition of International Quran Competition that is underway in Tehran, Hassan Rabiee added that the contest has considerably improved compared to the previous edition in terms of both quantity and quality.
“We have been mainly concerned with fulfilling the expectations of the Supreme Leader and the Quranic community and seek to improve the quality of people’s lives through the Holy Book.”
He said the quantitative improvements in the contest can be seen in the number of contestants which shows a 10% increase compared to last year’s edition as well as the extensive participation of the audience and cooperation of all the related organizations in the country.
Highlighting the high quality of the competition, he expressed hopes that the Holy Quran can be elevated to a higher status after the contest and receive more attention by the media, officials and all classes of people.
Rabiee went on to say that all the Quranic activities and contests held in the country should be evaluated based on the degree of their influence on the public culture. “Quran competitions will not be successful if not targeted at the promotion of society’s public culture.”
“The reduction in the social crimes and delinquencies during the holy month of Ramadan is witness to the profound influence of the Holy Book in people’s lives and the effect should be prolonged to all times through the organization of various Quranic plans and programs.”
“We need to make more serious plans to clarify the influence of Quranic events throughout the society,” he said, calling for the cooperation of all the organizations and the media to carry out the task.
Rabiee further appreciated the efforts made by the officials of the contest, all the cooperating organizations and Quranic media as well as TV and radio networks for covering the competition in the best manner.
