Int’l Quran Competition’s Contenders Meet with Supreme Leader

The country’s Quranic community as well as Quran reciters from different countries who attended the 29th International Holy Quran Competition met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei on Sunday.
During the meeting, winner of the recitation category of the international competition Hossein Motamedi, Egyptian receiter Sheikh Ali Mahmoud Shamis, and prominent Iranian reciter Hamed Shakernejad recited verses from the Holy Quran.
Then, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi presented a report about organizing the 29th edition of the International Holy Quran Competition.
Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi said the contest was held at a high level in terms of quality as confirmed by everyone, in particular the 14 members of the event’s jury panel.
He said 47 Quran memorizers and 56 reciters from 68 countries participated in the international competition, describing it as a sign of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s high status in the world.
Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization pointed to people’s warm reception of the competition and said most of those attending the event as audience were the youth and teenagers.
On the organization’s other activities, he said programs are underway for materializing the plan for training 10 to 15 million memorizers of the Holy Quran.
