Organizing cultural weeks lays the ground for strengthening bilateral ties in various fields and contributes significantly to knowing more about other nations’ civilization and history.
This is according to Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, who, addressing the opening ceremony of Iran-Tunisia Cultural Week, also said that the event will open a new chapter in the ties between the two nations.
He added the two countries have many cultural and religious commonalities and that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with Tunisia in various spheres.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he touched upon the issue of desecrating the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the production of a blasphemous US-made movie and restated that, “Recent anti-Islamic sentiments would only serve to promote unity and solidarity among Muslims”.
Tunisia’s Minister of Culture Mahdi Mabrouk is in Iran heading a cultural-art delegation.
Mr. Mabrouk has traveled to Iran on an invitation from Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Dr Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini.
He is attending Tunisia’s first cultural week in Tehran and meet with Iranian cultural officials including Dr Hosseini.
He also plans to visit the central city of Yazd to attend a ceremony to honor Hassan Danesh, Iranian Quran reciter who won the first rank in Tunisia’s International Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition.
The trip will be made at an invitation by the Friday prayer leader and governor general of Yazd.
