Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party said those who staged the coup were to blame for the killing of demonstrators on Sunday.
Issuing a statement, the party said those behind the coup against Morsi, especially Defense Minister Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi and Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, were responsible for the bloodshed on Sunday, October 6, Amal Alam website reported.
It called on all human rights organizations and the dignified people in the world to condemn the killings and make efforts to put an end to the killing of innocent people.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of Al-Azhar University’s Board of Scholars Abbas Shouman said the clashes that took place in Egyptian streets on Sunday did not represent defending the homeland but showed a lack of love for the homeland and inattention to its interests.
On Sunday supporters of Muslim Brotherhood and Egypt’s ousted President Mohamed Morsi staged demonstrations in different cities against the July 3 coup. They also chanted slogans against Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb.
The death toll from clashes between demonstrators and police forces reached 51.
Egypt has been experiencing unrelenting violence since July 3, when the army ousted Morsi, suspended the constitution, and dissolved the parliament. It also appointed the head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mahmoud Mansour, as the new interim president.
