Ali Akbar
Hanifi told IQNA that there is great enthusiasm for learning Quran recitation and
memorization among the visually-impaired and this is a great potential that
needs to be tapped.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a contest held Wednesday for selecting Iran’s Representatives at the upcoming Visually-Impaired International Quran Competition.
Hanifi added that holding Quran contests for the visually-impaired further encourages them to learn the Quran.
16 visually-impaired Quran reciters took part in the competition in Tehran to qualify for the upcoming international Quran competition for visually-impaired.
A group of prominent Quran masters, including Ali Akbar Hanifi, Rahim Khaki, Saeed Rahmani, Amir Aghayi and Habib Mahkam formed the jury board of the qualifying contest.
The top participants were selected to represent the Islamic Republic in the international Quranic event.
The first international Quran competition for the visually-impaired will be hosted by Iran later this year.
It will be organized on the sidelines of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 33rd International Holy Quran Competition.
More than 30 countries are expected to send their representatives to the competition for the visually-impaired.
The first edition will only feature the category of Quran memorization but more categories could be included in the future editions.
