The competition, which is annually organized, is aimed at selecting top Quran activists to represent the country in international Quranic events.
According to Qaaf news agency, the participants will compete in the categories of recitation of the Quran and memorization of the entire Holy Book.
"Our Qaris, Our Memorizers Are Bright Lights of Our Iraq”, is the motto of this edition of the contest.
The Hamza Hall in the holy city of Al-Kadhimiya, north of Baghdad, will host the four-day event.
This will be the final stage of the contest and the participants are those who had the best performance in the preliminary round held in all provinces of the Arab country.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
