Representatives from seven countries, namely Iraq, Afghanistan, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iran and Indonesia went on the stage to showcase their Quranic talents yesterday.
The conference hall of Homa Hotel here in the Iranian capital hosted the contest.
It was one of five international Quranic events held in Iran this week- the others being international Quran competitions for men, visually-impaired, seminary students and school students.
While four of the contests are being held in Tehran, the holy city of Qom is hosting the fifth, the one for seminary students.
Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
Those attending the competition for women will visit the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad on Saturday before returning to Tehran for the awarding ceremony.
They are also planned to visit the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini (RA) in Tehran on Sunday morning.
