TEHRAN (IQNA) – The committee for organizing Eid al-Fitr prayers in Tehran said Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei will lead the prayers in the Iranian capital.

According to the committee, the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) will host the prayers like previous years.

Mosalla’s doors will be open as of 5 a.m. on the day of Eid, it said.

The prayers will be held at 8:30, the committee added.

Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will be celebrated in Iran either on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the sighting of the new moon.

The first day of the month of Shawwal on the lunar calendar is called Eid al-Fitr, which is marked when the first crescent of the new moon is sighted.

In many Muslim countries, including Iran, moon-sighting committees are set up to confirm the start of the month of Shawwal.
