Winners of Dubai Int’l Quran Contest for Women Awarded

TEHRAN (IQNA) –  Winners of the 4th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition for women were announced and awarded in a ceremony on Saturday night.

According to al-Bayan daily, the ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Quran by representatives of Britain and the Comoros Islands.

Then a clip featuring the activities of this edition of the contest was played.

Next a message from Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, was read out, in which he hailed the growing number of participants in the annual Quranic event.

After that winners of the top ten ranks were announced.

According to the panel of judges, Halimeh Abdul Nasser Muallim Ahmed from Britain bagged the top prize.

The runner up was Asil Ali Mohammad Abu Salah from Palestine, and Amina Henderx from South Africa and Awo Muhammad Sald from the US jointly came third.

Iran’s representative Zeynab Feizi was not among the top winners.  

Representatives of 68 countries competed in this edition of the international Quran contest, which had started last Saturday.

The three top winners were respectively awarded 250000, 200000 and 150000 Emirati dirhams, according to the organizers.
