Quran Competition Gets Underway in New Delhi

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 20th edition of a Quran competition organized by the Iranian Cultural Center in India kicked off in New Delhi on Monday.

At the opening ceremony, Mohammad Ali Rabbani, Iran’s cultural attaché in India, congratulated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Islamic Unity Week, noting that the center has organized the contest on the auspicious occasion for the past 20 years.

He noted that more than 220 individuals have attended this year’s competition in the categories of memorization and recitation of the Quran.

Of them, 127 contenders made it to the final round, 48 of them in memorization and 79 of them in recitation, Rabbani said.

He noted that the finalists are from 16 cities of India.

Four Quran experts, two Iranians and two Indians, form the panel of judges.
