Judiciary Chief Hails Manifestations of New Islamic Civilization

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi said manifestations of a new Islamic civilization are appearing the Muslim world today.

 

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 33rd International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Saturday, Ayatollah Raeisi hoped that unity and solidarity in the Muslim world would help to expedite the formation of the new Islamic civilization.

He referred to strategies to strengthen Islamic unity and said creation of unions featuring cultural and social issues in the Muslim world with the participation of thinkers and scholars is one of these strategies.

One of these issues is human rights, about which Islam has offered the most important instruction, he added.

As for the obstacles to reaching unity in the Muslim world, the senior cleric said the west is seeking to prevent Islamic unity by spreading discord.

He also highlighted the issue of Palestine and said that, as the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini (RA) put it, Quds is the number one issue in the Muslim world.

“Today, we see that Muslim world scholars and thinkers consider this … to be their number one issue,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Raeisi thanked the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and its secretary general, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, for organizing the international conference and hoped that it would contribute to Islamic unity.

Themed “Ummah unity in defending the al-Aqsa Mosque,” the International Islamic Unity Conference began in Tehran on Thursday, with 350 personalities from 93 countries in attendance, and concluded on Saturday.

Marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is held annually in an effort to lay the ground for stronger unity and solidarity among Muslims and provide solutions for their problems.
