UAE Forum Discusses Religions’ Role in Promoting Tolerance

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The sixth annual Assembly of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies got underway in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on Monday.

 

Some 1,000 religious figures, scholars and thinkers from different countries are taking part in the gathering, whose main theme is “Role of Religions in Promoting Tolerance: From Possibility to Necessity”, akhbarona website reported.

The participants in the three-day meeting discuss and examine questions like: How can we promote the principles of tolerance that are so necessary for the modern world? What is the role of religion? What is the role of law? What is the role of society? What is the role of education?

Addressing the opening ceremony, UAE Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan underlined the importance of compassionate relations among peoples, cultures and followers of different religious.

Secretary General of the Muslim World League Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa was another speaker at the opening ceremony who said the theme of the forum highlights the responsibility of religious leaders to promote tolerance.
