TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lashed out at certain Islamic nations for supporting a policy which suppresses Palestinians.

Without identifying any particular country, Erdogan reminded the Muslim community that the main struggle of Al-Quds is not only for Palestinian freedom, but the dignity of the Islamic world.

“As Muslim countries, our most important responsibility in this process is to protect the privacy of Masjid al-Aqsa, to protect Al-Quds as a monument of peace, and to defend the rights of Palestinians.

“In the face of a step marking the beginning of a process that will affect the entire world, especially the Middle East, the policy followed by some Islamic countries presents a dismal picture.

“It is unacceptable that some Islamic countries adopt a pro-attitude towards this invasion plan, in contrast to the unfairness and cruelty exhibited by the Israeli administration,” Erdogan said, referring to the so-called “deal of the century” plan recently unveiled by US President Donald Trump.

“It should not be forgotten that Al-Quds is not only the cause of Muslims in Palestine. Al-Quds is the dignity and common cause of the Islamic world,” Erdogan said in a message read out at the opening ceremony of the Third Conference of The League of Parliamentarians For Al-Quds in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

His speech was read by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TNGA) Administrative Chief Hasan Turan, who leads a delegation from Turkey, comprising government backbenchers and opposition lawmakers in the Turkish government.

Muslims, said Erdogan, should come together and fight shoulder-to-shoulder to solve the common problems of Muslims, especially the cause involving Palestine, to eliminate injustice all over the world.

“We will continue our objections to the persecution in Al-Quds and Palestine. We will continue to advocate peace, justice and independence.

“It is also our greatest desire that Muslim countries show their determination to govern Al-Quds in accordance with the importance it signifies for the Muslim world,” said Erdogan.

On the Israel-Palestine peace deal hatched by the United States, Erdogan said the so-called treaty is nothing but a “dream” that threatened peace and tranquility in the region.

“We will not let this dream come true. We do not recognize this plan, which means annexing Palestinian territories, completely destroying Palestine and completely extorting Al-Quds.

“We never accept this initiative that apparently accepts a two-state solution but indeed translates to legitimizing the Israeli occupation under the auspices of the American administration,” Erdogan added.
