Int’l Quran Competition Starts in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 27th edition of international Quran competition of Egypt started on Saturday with the participation of 85 Quran activists from 63 countries.

 

According to elbalad.news, the country’s Ministry of Awqaf has organized the competition at a hotel in Cairo, the capital.

This edition of the Quranic event is supervised by 10 Quran competition referees from Egypt and several other Arab and Muslim countries.

It has been named after Quran master Abdulbasit Abdulsamad and winners will be awarded a total of 1,200,000 Egyptian Pounds.

Memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed, Quran interpretation and Quranic concepts are the categories of the competition for different age groups.

Top participants will be awarded in a ceremony which will be held with the participation of Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi, the president of Egypt, on the 27th of the holy month of Ramadan.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the competition, Mohammad Mokhtar Goma, Egypt’s minister of Awqaf who represented the country’s Prime Minister in the event, announced the opening of 1250 Quranic schools in different parts of the country.
