According to Nina News, he urged the government of Iraq to plan and hold the gathering.
Al-Kaabi said the event would host Quran reciters from all over the world, including Muslim countries.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the president and members of Iraq’s Union of Quranic Groups Associations.
The senior lawmaker also urged Iraq’s governors to support religious and Quranic activities.
He further referred to the Hadith of Thaqalayn “Verily, I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you: the Book of God and my kindred (`itrah), my household (Ahl alBayt), for indeed, the two will never separate until they come back to me by the Pond (of alKawthar on the Judgement's Day),” and said the Hadith from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) must be heeded to counter the enemies’ onslaughts on Islam and the Book of God.
