TEHRAN (IQNA) – The front door of the Iranian embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has been redesigned and adorned with a verse from the Holy Quran.

Designed by Iranian artist Mohammad Kavand, it includes 3D ceramic tiles with verse 103 of Surah Al Imran, “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter,” calligraphed on them.

His design, which has incorporated features of the Iranian-Islamic architecture, is waterproof and includes elements to make the structure more resistant to corrosion in Kuala Lumpur’s tropical climate.

Kavand, who has lived in the Southeast Asian country for years, has designed mihrabs (semicircular niche in the wall of a mosque that indicates the qibla) in several prayer halls as well as front doors and other architectural works.

Among them are the front door at the house of Sultan of Selangor and the main dome of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.

His works in Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei have drawn acclaim and helped to acquaint people with Iranian-Islamic art.
