Iranian Qari Comes 3rd at Lebanon Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of an international Quran competition in Lebanon were announced by the organizing committee.

 

The “Irshad wa Tawjih” (guidance and counselling) Society held the contest, named “Oula-al-Qiblatain”, in cooperation with the Lebanon’s Association of Islamic Cultural Teachings.

According to the panel of arbiters, Iraqi Qari Abdullah al-Karbalayi won the top tile.

Muhammad Ali Qassim from the host country was announced as the runner-up and Iran’s Majid Ananpour came third.

The winners of the fourth to tenth titles were from Egypt, Yemen, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Germany, Pakistan and Indonesia, respectively.

The Irshad wa Tawjih Society, which is run under the auspicious of Hezbollah Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, organized the Quran contest virtually.

Attended by male Qaris aged 18 to 40, it began on July 3 and the closing ceremony was held on Friday, July 16.

A total of 322 Qaris from 40 countries took part in the international Quranic event.
