Preliminary Stage of Iran Int’l Quran Contest Wraps Up

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The preliminary stage of the 38th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition wrapped up Saturday evening.

 

The panel of arbiters evaluated the last recorded files of the participants in the men’s categories on Saturday.

A total of 190 participants from 69 countries participated in the preliminary stage in different men’s and women’s categories.

The panel of arbiters included 18 Iranian and 10 foreign judges. The foreign arbiters attended the event virtually.

Hamid Majidimehr, head of the competition’s department of Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, told IQNA that a committee has now been tasked with reviewing evaluation forms filled by the referees which takes a little time.

He predicted that initial results may be announced in a matter of 10 to 15 days.

The final stage of the competition is set to be held in March. Officials say if the pandemic conditions let, the final stage will be held in person.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quranic event with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.

Quran memorizers and reciters from 67 countries took part in the final round of the 37th edition of the contest, which was held on March 6-11, 2021.
