Winners of Quran Contest in India’s Hyderabad Awarded

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was held in Hyderabad, the capital of southern India's Telangana state.

It was organized by the Sharafiyah Qirat Academy with support from the local government and Islamic organizations and groups, according to the Iranian Cultural Center in Mumbai.

The participants competed in the categories of Quran recitation and memorization in the men and women sections.

Winners were awarded at the closing ceremony held at Azizia Masjid (mosque) of the city.

Mulana Muhieddin Wassem, a Muslim scholar and preacher of the mosque, addressed the closing event.

India is a Hindu-majority country in South Asia.  With around 204 million Muslims (2019 estimate), India’s Muslim population is about the world’s third-largest and the world’s largest Muslim-minority population.
