TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization says technologies can be used to promote Quranic teachings in society.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mehdi Khamoushi

“Social media can be greatly beneficial in the field of Quranic activities. Current technologies should be used to expand Quranic activities in the society,” Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mehdi Khamoushi told IQNA in an exclusive interview.

He noted that recitations of participants at 38th Iran’s International Quran Competition were viewed millions of times on different social media platforms.

“Of course, we have not yet moved toward using new technologies such as metaverse,” he added.

Years ago, he continued, people could hardly find their favorite recitations recorded in cassette tapes, but now everything is available at one’s fingertips.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the official pointed to the need to train qaris at a very young age.

Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization is one of the main organizations in the Islamic Republic of Iran responsible for organizing Quranic programs in the country.

One of the latest events organized by the organization was the international Quran contest which wrapped up in Tehran on Saturday.
